A Pilgrimage to a Museum and Fine Dining

Wednesday 27 November 2013
We knew we would need a lot of time at the Museo De Antropologia in Mexico City since it has the best collection of pre-hispanic artifacts in the whole country.  Five hours in; still not quite enough.  We ran out of memory on our camera – even with a 16g chip.  Started deleting some older photos.  Then ran out of battery.  Then ran out of steam.  OMG!  Here is a small selection of the 300 photos we took.

This is me, wearing Moctuzema's hat.

To thank Lu Lu and Jose Antonia for their kind hospitality, we had arranged a booking at one of the best restaurants in Mexico City, Pujol.  The chef had come out for the Melbourne food and wine festival earlier this year and we had fallen in love with the food.  At the time, the chef had remarked he couldn’t get all his normal ingredients into Australia due to our quarantine laws, but he hoped it would be good anyway.  It was excellent.  When we had dined on his food in Melbourne, one of our favourite dishes was baby corn in an ash mayonnaise and we had it again in Mexico City – this time including the ants– and I have to admit, it was even better.  A ten course meal ensued.  Wonderful.
