Two
hours out of Cancun is Tulum. Went there
for another pyramid, this one right on the beach. It’s unique.
As a result we saw the Caribbean, our only day seeing it. Our hotel was really nice and right on the
beach. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise
over the Caribbean and Trevor went for a swim. Best beach we’ve seen outside of the Cook
Islands.
The Tulum
ruins are exquisite. We were advised
that this was one of the most visited sites in all of Mexico, so got there just
after opening about 8:30am. Only one
other car in the car park. Yay. Hardly anyone else there but already very
hot. The beach and the site and the
pyramids were all just mind blowing. Iguanas
everywhere. So, so beautiful.
It’s
not a big site so were out in about an hour.
By the time we left the hoards had descended. Haven’t seen so many tourists in one place
since I was at the Tower of London – yuk!
Did a little boat tour later where they took us to the see the ruins
from the water, which was really worth doing.
The beach we had to ourselves earlier was now teeming with tourists. I hate tourists.
