After seeing the huge site of Calakmul, we headed back to our hotel. This site is really in the middle of nowhere so nothing much to do and it was raining hard so we went to our room and decided, by complete random chance, to watch a movie that I had heard of called The Fountain.
So we’re sitting only miles away from the Calakmul pyramids, having just visited Yaxchilan and Tikal and planning on visiting Chichen Itza in a few days time, when this scene came on in the movie….

The “lost pyramid” they’re talking about in the movie is Calakmul and we’re sitting right at that site. What are the chances? Freaky!
